Founded by Jeremy Calles, an experienced school district CFO, NGSB simplifies complex tasks, allowing schools to improve efficiency and fiscal accuracy.

NGSB initially relied on an Access database and manual processes within Excel to manage financial reporting for its clients. As the business expanded to serve over 60 districts, it became clear that maintaining the system single-handedly was unsustainable. Founder Jeremy Calles sought a solution that could scale, allow for client autonomy, and provide opportunities for additional tools and resources.
Managing financial reporting with manual tools like Access and Excel had become overwhelming, creating risks for both the business and its clients. The old system was clunky and labor-intensive, making it increasingly challenging to manage growing client demand. Jeremy struggled to strike a work life balance, and the ability to find the time to enhance NGSB the way he dreamed. The client experience wasn’t ideal either, as their ability to generate reports relied on Jeremy’s scarce availability.

Disca worked side-by-side with NGSB, mastering the project’s technical requirements and the detailed logic behind Jeremy’s proprietary processes. This ultimately created an exact alignment with state mandates and requirements.
By identifying potential challenges early, Disca was able to propose alternative solutions and options to improve usability and functionality.
The new platform was developed to handle current needs while planning for a more robust system and new features that would support NGSB’s growth goals over time.
The new platform simplified key processes, saving significant time for both NGSB and their clients. By providing a few prerequisite files and some district information, reports are now calculated automatically.
Clients can now manage their own data and access reports directly and for themselves. District personnel have access to different feature options and can manage changing district parameters.
Since the development of the initial platform, Disca has continued integrating additional tools like Code Check, Annual Financial Report (AFR), Compensation Study, Indirect Cost Report, and a TurboTax-inspired Budget Tool.
